Biodynamic wines are produced using organic practices while adding a spiritual/holistic component. Winemakers practicing biodynamics consider the vineyard as part of a larger ecosystem, prioritizing biodiversity, sustainability and non-intervention. Natural fertilizers and alternative pest control (absolutely no pesticides!) are paramount. Livestock and other agriculture, like olive trees or citrus orchards, are often found among the grape vines. This philosophy, while grounded in tangible farming practices, also strongly emphasizes the connection between the earth and celestial energies. Much of the farming calendar is coordinated with the position of the moon, stars and planets.
